AWESOME PVC MUSIC GET-

as the [ album ] title implies, the complex is a complex art rock recording featuring vast array of avant garde instruments specifically 'invented' or discovered by the group's founders from materials such as stripped down piano [ piano smasher ] and pvc tubes / pipes [ tubulum / drumbone ] among many, with some of these peculiar instruments tend to produce distinctive futuristic sound much like conventional synthesizers did. and since the blue men were conceptually mute they had a number of select artistes performing vocals on their behalf; their music however is strong enough to stand by its own but the addition of vocal performances by select artistes such as dave matthews, tracy bonham, gavin rossdale [ of bush ] and venus hum [ to mention a few ] somehow completes the magic found inside of their music.

the music heard throughout this album borders between a mild dose of progressive rock music and the kind of music heard from [ avant garde ] theatrical art performances. it has a graphically [ persuasive ] percussive foundation layered with dark and / or futuristic soundscape produced from the aforementioned avant garde instruments overlying the general theme of self consciousness, naive imitation of cultural norms [ e.g. the recurring rock concert instruction manual ] and the climb to the top [ which is prominent through the album's art / booklet ]. +the songs may be rock in their basic architecture however there's a number of doors left open leading them to the possibility of steering into the new age music with very noticable industrial music edge [ kindly listen to the german new age / industrial act enigma for further insight over this subject ].

the most interesting part of the complex is how elastic its music is which is one of the many defining aspect for the art rock / avant garde music genre; here, the group fully pushes the boundaries of what they could achieve with conventional rock music, turning its inside out into something that breathes in an almost similar fashion as what the band tool have experimented / done with their magnificent 2001 release 'lateralus' [ among the best progressive art metal album ever released to date ] with the sole exception being that tool's music were much more spiritual and brooding in contextual approach.

now having heard the music featured in the complex i am somewhat intrigued upon having a peek on their live 'theatrical' performances, especially over songs which made use of the piano smasher and their extensive arsenal of pvc-born instruments.
